I currently work as Academic Developer in Technology-Enhanced Learning at the University of West London. My role involves promoting the effective use of learning technologies among academic staff, encouraging best practice, delivering workshops and training as well as managing and participating in projects aimed at furthering the use of learning technologies.

Before this role, I worked for 10 years in various HE teaching roles, including Senior Lecturer in Applied Translation at London Metropolitan University (Feb 2010-Nov 2015). I have also worked as e-learning developer for an early years teacher training provider, where my responsibilities included developing distance and blended learning courses, updating content, and managing the daily running of the VLE. In April 2017 I am starting a new job as Blended Learning Specialist at Imperial College London and I am looking forward to this challenge.

My experience so far has given me very good awareness of challenges and opportunities related to the use of learning technologies from both a faculty member’s and academic developer’s perspective as well as excellent familiarity with principles of pedagogy, andragogy and heutagogy that find application in blended and online learning. I strongly believe that learning technologies have a great potential to enhance learners’ experience by allowing greater flexibility, fostering engagement and widening opportunities.

I aim to achieve CMALT accreditation to formalise my knowledge in the area of learning technologies with a view to furthering my career in this field. I also hope that the process of preparing the portfolio will be a great opportunity for a useful reflection on my professional practice so far, evaluate where I am professionally and what steps to take to further develop my career.
